Forest travelled to Cambridge for their first foray into indoor hockey for a good number of years. First up was Bourne Deeping and the lack of indoor practice showed as Forest found it hard to adapt, some more than others with Chris Brown doing a fine impression of Bambi on ice. Once acclimatised the result turned into a formality and a 8-3 win opened the account, with Shuhel Malique scoring 3 and the others goal spread around the team. The second match saw Forest facing Norwich Dragons and again the Walthamstow men started slowly but nonetheless found themselves 3-0 at half-time. Dragons got into the match as Forest relaxed and within a couple of minutes of the restart the deficit had been reduced to 3-2 but that was as close as it got as the green and whites turned on the style and raced to a 9-2 victory, playing some excellent indoor hockey on the way. With their final group opponents, University of East Anglia, not turning up it meant Forest had an early finish and made their way back to the hotel having easily topped the group.

After a fine (late) night out hopes understandably weren’t high. To make matters worse Forest had potentially the hardest match, against Wisbech Town, first. Luckily a couple of the team had managed early nights and put in the leg work while the others got started. The first half remained close but as with all other matches during the weekend Forest picked their game up and started playing some delightful hockey as Wisbech were dispatched 9-4. Forest only needed a point against Bishops Stortford to clinch the title but turned in a ruthless performance as the opposition were swept away 9-2 with Stortford having no answer to wave after wave of Forest attacks.
