Match Reports (Previous Seasons)

Match Reports 14th September

Well, what a weekend! We had ambulances, goose crap and even a video cameraman at the Mens 1s (though whether that was for technical analysis or someone hoping to make a cheeky 250quid from ‘You’ve Been Framed’ is yet to be confirmed).

Men’s 2s vs Wapping 3s

Like a true master chef Tim Boxall is bringing his men to the boil with perfect timing.

A trademark tidy finish from Waz and a reverse strike top corner stunner from Mills (that he won’t shut up about [Editor – it’s my solitary goal of the season and I’ll brag if I want to]) were enough to see off a typically strong and well organised Wapping.

The secret sauce contained lots of quick ball around the back, hard work and simple passing in the middle (honourable mention for the King of Hobo Chic Oli Eaton) and special extra ingredient Matt “Black Truffle” Tanswell adding a rich silky texture.
Aside from a lengthy hiatus while an ambulance took away a bloodied visitor with a nasty ball-to-head injury (Rej I hope you’ve at least sent some grapes?) the game went to plan, with Forest controlling much of the play and seeing out a 2-0 win over the old enemy.

The task now is to keep the mix simmering while adding seasonal vegetables (Cillie, Chengy, Webb etc) as available.

Men’s 4s vs Brentwood Academy

9-0 Win!
A big thank you to all of those who helped us raise a team in a crazy weekend of injury, work commitments and late summer cricket fixtures.

Going for a “total hockey“ approach of 11 outfield players and no keeper, Forest romped home. 4 goals came from Frank supported by Aamir, James, James and even Jack Rumbold. Good luck at university Jack; leaving the club on a high note.

Men’s 5s vs Saffron Walden

The Men’s 5s got off to a slow start in their first friendly (the general rustiness not helped by pre-match focus being not so much on warming up as clearing goose excrement from the pitch!) and fell 3-0 down within the first 25 minutes. However we became much more competitive, not conceding any further goals and, particularly in the second half, demonstrated some sustained periods of possession without quite finding the cutting edge to score. Three players (Dan, Syed and Iain) played their first game for the club and overall it was an encouraging start to the season.
