Match Reports (Current Season)

24th & 25th March 2018

Ladies 4s

Ladies 4s played brilliantly today! We deserved to win but sadly it was 2-0 to Southend! Back on the pitch tomorrow for our penultimate game of the season!

This week the 4’s went on tour. Yesterday’s sorrows were drowned with gin, prosecco and a pool noodle swimming race at the hotel. (Sian’s Ida won)

With very tired legs from yesterday’s match in Southend we started the day with an athletes breakfast. (McDonalds)

Colchester had at least 25 players and we arrived whilst they were doing a warm up haka. Despite the intimidation tactics, we started strong, with Emma stepping up to captain and Laura and Ruby kindly stepping in from the 3’s.

After a few short corners at both ends, we SCORED! We kept up the pressure for the rest of the first half and Martha made an incredible save when Colchester were awarded a penalty flick! Late into the second half, Colchester managed to sneak a goal in, and despite some really good runs from Ruby and Grace it ended 1-1.

Goals scored: Grace

Player of the match: Emma

Sausages eaten by Jabba: 4

Roadkill pheasant: 1

Men’s 4s

With the Men’s section really rallying today it was a pleasure to Captain the Men’s 4’s at Braintree for the graveyard 16:00 pushback. Taking 6 players who had played and won with 5’s in the morning (have I mentioned that) and 3 Otters it was always gonna be tough playing 3 leagues higher but the team spirit, effort, tireless running and never say die attitude shone through today Team. Braintree were good and despite all our effort we trailed 5-0 at half time. After some leg and lung replacements at half time plus a sterling pep talk from Farrow Senior we held them out for most of the second half but as the new legs tired we ended up conceding a few at the end to loose 9-0.

The game would of been out of our reach and Braintree would have reached double figures had I not saved a penalty flick to keep us in touching distance right to the end end 🙂

Well done to every single player today and worth mentioning that William (Farrow junior) looked very comfortable at that level.

Over and out….

Ladies 1s

Ladies 1s played against Brentwood today, below was the sideline commentary from a broken Mog that went to our WhatsApp group…

19 mins gone in first half and after absorbing a lot of pressure we’ve scored with a lovely team goal starting at the back. Goal scorer Isabelle Scerri!!!!!

Ladies 2s

We always knew that playing top of the league undefeated East London 3’s was going to be tough especially as teams above us had lost 10-0 to them. With a number a key players missing, Sophie and Ellie stepped up and played really well. Defence and goalie were kept very busy and the score remained 0-0 until 30 seconds was left. Unfortunately East London were given a flick and scored.

We all worked really hard and now need to win our final games.

Mom – Michelle believes it to be her

Dod- d – for wishing us luck 6 hours after we played the game.

Kirsty – crimes to Harry Potter

Men’s 2s

Last game of the season against second in the league Colchester.

Close in the first half, less so in the second half. (3-2, 7-2)

Big up to Paul and Yogi for captaining this season, all players for their effort this season and committee for helping with umpires, teas and fixtures. Onwards and upwards for our promotion push in 4se!

Otters

With our usual defenders playing for higher teams, the Otters match against Saffron Walden turned into something of a shootout. We scored our first within 2 minutes, and two in the last 10 minutes but some clinical finishing from the visitors meant we lost 6-5. The goals came from Mohad (2), Dhillon (2) and Archie Watson, and there were some cracking efforts amongst them.

Men’s 5s

The Mens 5’s WON 4-3, The Mens 5’s WON 4-3, The Mens 5’s WON 4-3, The Mens 5’s WON 4-3, The Mens 5’s WON 4-3, The Mens 5’s WON 4-3, The Mens 5’s WON 4-3!!!
