Match Reports (Current Season)

18th November 2017

Ladies 1s

We won 1-0 against Tunbridge Wells (away).

It was a cold and miserable day but we didn’t care – we were there to collect our 3 points.

Philippa Leguen De Lacroix got DOD for forgetting the training balls for warm up (and somehow bullied me into writing the match report for her).

We spent a lot of time dancing around the pitch today.

Time stopped for about 6 minutes and we kept setting up for different decisions whilst the umpires changed decisions 4 times about a Tunbridge foot outside the D and a Waltham Forest foot inside the D and a Waltham Forest foot outside the D. This we like to call The Tango.

Fish saved a goal on the line with her baseball bat swipe – it was awesome!

At half time it was 0-0 so Ozzie gave us a motivational speech which got us ready for the second half.

Katherine Abbie did the Waltz around 3 players in the D and scored – it was sensational.

We had a short corner and scored but it was disallowed. It was deflected off the oppo’s leg into the goal but the decision was that it was too high to hit the backboard. Sad times.

Mog GK did the Quickstep and somehow got caught up with several sticks and feet and twisted her neck whilst falling to the floor. She’s a soldier though and got back up.

Everyone played really well and we worked together as a great unit.

Tunbridge Wells get an award for nicest showers.

Well done L1 and thank you Ozzie for all your hard work with training us so far.

Men’s 1s

Men’s 1s played away to Norwich today. 1 league place between the teams and a tough game was fought out on an extremely bouncy pitch. Forest took the lead early on with a Daniel Smith drag flick but it only went downhill from there. Forest found themselves 4-1 down at half-time, with noticeable gaffes from myself (POtP) to gift Norwich 2 goals.

However we weren’t going to surrender our 3 game unbeaten record without a fight. Horace (MOtM) led the way with a solid defensive display and we got the next goal with a top of the D strike to start our fightback. Liam Radley found the top corner from a rebounded short corner then James Price finished a great team move after sterling work down the left from Chappie. 4-4 final score. We’ll take that away from home and look forward to a better performance against league leaders Ipswich next week

Otters

Another excellent performance brought a second consecutive win for the Otters, with Dhillon’s brilliant individual strike into the top corner from the top of the D and a flowing passing move finished off by Irfan enough for the victory. Saffron Walden pulled one back from their only strike on goal which caused a little nervousness but we held on quite comfortably and could have increased our lead.

Mixed

Our mixed 11 turned out in glorious sunshine for a 12:30 pushback against London Royals earlier today.
The Royals started brightly and with an additional outfield player I thought it was gonna be a close game but our superb squad were just too strong. Some of the passing and movement today was a joy to watch. We were awesome.
We ran out winners 1-15

Believe Kristis Bubnelis top scored with 6, Mr Jack Rumbold grabbed a hat-trick and I’m sure Jonathan Jones, Joe Russo, Kirsten Geekie and Kareen all netted but i didn’t fully document such a goal feast.
