Men’s 1s
Waltham Forest men’s 1s hosted 2nd from bottom Wisbech town at a very wet Walthamstow academy. Forest, playing with the bare 11 for a 5th or 6th time of the season, started the better of the two teams. Seeing Wisbech camped in their own half, Forest put together some quick slick passing moves and were rewarded with a few short corners. The second short corner was put away by Dan smith (of course, who else) after a neat 1-2 with Jacko. Wisbech didn’t change their half court press and Forest started to create more chances, with Ben Norton coming closest to scoring but unable to slide the ball in after rounding the keeper. Forest had to be aware of the Wisbech long ball and “smash it in the D” tactic but with some solid defending from Horace playing at CB for the first time, Chris Day was very rarely tested. The second half was similar with Forest having a few chances to put the game to bed, but we don’t like making it easy. Despite Wisbech’s adventurous attempts, Forest saw the game out and with it, the three points – ensuring a climb to 5th in the league.
We didn’t vote for mom or pop so I’m going to do it.

The Men’s 5’s played Saffron Walden at a rather wet and miserable Academy this afternoon. The first achievement was to get 11 players on the pitch. Tick
Opening play was shared in the first 20 mins or so with the 5’s showing good concentration and organisation in defence and good movement up front when the opportunities arose. Saffron Walden took the lead through a deflected short and then scored again from a great run from their talented young winger who proved to be a bit of a thorn in our side all afternoon. HT 0-2
We started brightly again second half and I thought had the better of the first 20 mins although we conceded another created by that pesky right winger. Heads stayed high, effort remained at 100% and we managed to pull one back. The scorer is still being debated.
We kept the pressure up and made the Oppo nervous with a 3-1 lead until they grabbed a fourth towards the end. Final score 1-4.
The last paragraph must again be devoted to another two Ottters who played for us today. Dhillon and Chiso. Both gave man of the match performances, both were strong in the tackle and confident on the ball and simply a huge credit to the whole youth section that is working so hard to bring them through. Well played boys.
MOM- Horace for playing out of position at CB and keeping a clean sheet.
POP- Pricey because who else. He played really well, but who runs off after hockey to watch West Ham.
