🏆 England Hockey’s Club of the Year 2013
Club Day / Open Day 2024
It was a searingly hot day at the Walthamstow Academy on Sunday 1st September for this year's Club Day / Open Day.
Turnout was great, and everyone enjoyed a cracking day of hockey, and fun.
We’re accessible
The club is based at Walthamstow Academy school in the North East London Borough of Waltham Forest.
We train and play on the school’s brand new astroturf pitch. We also use the Olympic pitches at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
We’re inclusive
We have 10 adult teams - four women’s, five men’s, and 1 mixed - and run ABC* sessions in June.
Our Youth section has 200+ members from age 6 upwards, and is supported by Jack Petchey Awards.
Forest Flyerz is our disability hockey programme - the first established in the UK - for anyone with a learning or physical disability.

We’re adaptable
We cater to a huge range of playing standards. Whether you’re a performance player, or complete beginner, we could be the club for you.
Our Saturday league teams play in England Hockey’s ‘East’ leagues from Division 1 down. We run free Adult Beginner Course sessions every summer.

We have history
Wanstead HC and West Essex HC merged in 1974/75. This club relocated to Walthamstow in 1989 to became Waltham Forest HC.
We were England Hockey’s Club of the Year 2013, and the first to offer disability hockey when we created Forest Flyerz.
